Fate: The Winx Saga Wiki

Brian Young is an American television producer. He is the creator, showrunner, and an executive producer of Fate: The Winx Saga. Young was formerly one of the staff writers for The Vampire Diaries on The CW.

Young is a newcomer to the Winx Club franchise. According to an interview in The Guardian, he chose to "ditch the look" of the cartoon Winx fairies, who have big eyes and sparkling outfits. He said, "Look, again, I'm a massive manga anime fan... but nobody looks like that."[1]

Also according to the same interview, Young's version of "Alfea will feel familiar – and not just to the 14- to 25-year-olds who grew up watching Winx Club on Nickelodeon."[1] The show is a half-British production and it shares similarities with Harry Potter (Young even added a name-drop of Harry Potter in one episode). Brian Young elaborated that magical schools are "a fantasy that I think a lot of people have when they're that age, because you're just trying to find somewhere where you don't feel so alone and so different."
