Season 2[]

FTWS 2x01 Devin Scraper Attack

Devin trying to use his magic to sense a Scraper

Devin was at a bonfire party with other third-year Alfea students. He was kissing a Specialist by the name of Ivy, drawing the attention of their fellow students. The two are interrupted by Nick throwing a beer can in their direction and pretending it was a noise made by a Burned One. Devin uses his magic to sense that Nick was lying and calls him a "dick" in response. Nick suggests the two kiss further away in the woods, which Devin and Ivy proceed to do. As Ivy is taking Devin's shirt off, Devin magically picks up feelings of disgust emanating in the area. Ivy claims it's not her, prompting Devin to use his powers to scan the area. The two notice a shadowy figure in the distance and go to confront it, believing it to be Nick. Devin senses that the figure is not Nick and tries to flee with Ivy. However, the shadowy figure is a Blood Witch who compels Ivy to stab herself in the neck with her two knives. Devin runs away and ends up near a damaged bridge close to a creek. As he attempts to use his magic to scan his surroundings, Devin finds that his power is being blocked by an approaching creature. A Scraper then attacks and drains Devin of his magic.

The students of Alfea think Devin is just another one of the missing students. Beatrix thinks Rosalind is somehow involved, but she denies any involvement. At the end of the episode, Beatrix and Stella are talking in the courtyard when Devin suddenly comes stumbling into the room, covered in cuts and blood. He collapses on the floor, but before he passes out, he mutters one name: Rosalind. Rosalind goes upstairs to the area she has been keeping off-limits, only to find the bonds she was keeping Devin in to be empty.[1]

The students bring Devin to the greenhouse, where he is cared for by Terra and her father. However, he is not getting better and is still unconscious. Rosalind visits and decides that he will be moved to the capitol the next day, but that evening, Flora uses a powerful concoction to bring Devin back to consciousness. He starts to scream and thrash on the hospital bed and manages to break the vine-bonds Terra entangles him in. During flashes of his memories, it is revealed that Rosalind was experimenting on him with needles and other substances. Devin breaks free from Terra and Flora and runs out of the room looking for Rosalind.

He runs into the headmistress's office to find Beatrix and Stella, and he is quickly followed by Terra and Flora with an antidote for the medicine Flora gave him. Suddenly, Rosalind comes through the door, and Devin runs at her. She uses her mind magic to immobilize him and drill through his recent traumatic memories, and ultimately she kills him, and he collapses on the floor.[2]

During the Alumni Banquet, when Stella tells the story of how Rosalind let Devin die, Rosalind appears with Devin behind her, alive and looking well.
