The Dominion Wars were a series of conflicts which happened during the period of the Otherworld's history known as the First Dominion,[1] one thousand years before Bloom Peters arrived to Alfea College.[2]
During the Dominion Wars, the Company of Light faced against the Army of Darkness, but the forces of light were not able to prevail over those of darkness, at which point one individual named Marion summoned a shadow power from the deepest corners of darkness.[1]
The Dominion Wars were finally ended when Bloom Peters' birth mother used the Dragon Flame. However she ultimately lost control of the Dragon Flame and killed thousands of people, and out of remorse she sealed herself in the Realm of Darkness after placing her newly born baby daughter who had inherited of the Dragon Flame into stasis to protect her from its power.[3]
The Burned Ones were created during the Dominion Wars when the Dragon Flame was used against the soldiers who participated in it.[2]
Season 1[]
Rosalind Hale referred to the Dominion Wars without explicitly mentioning them by name when she revealed to Farah Dowling that the Dragon Flame exists inside Bloom and that the Burned ones were created by it in an ancient war.[2]
Season 2[]
After Rosalind took over the direction of Alfea, she assigned Bloom reading about the Dominion Wars. In one passage that Bloom read aloud, it was mentioned that one individual named Marion summoned a shadow power when the Company of Light was not being able to defeat the Army of Darkness.[1]
Sebastian Valtor later revealed to Bloom that she was the daughter of a fairy who possessed the Dragon Flame and was the hero of the Dominion Wars until she lost control and killed thousands of people, after which she placed her newly born daughter in stasis and sealed herself within the Realm of Darkness out of remorse for the destruction she had caused.[3]

The Dominion Wars are loosely based on the attack of the Ancestral Witches 
on Domino , the birth planet of Bloom , which they did so they could steal the power of the Dragon Flame that burned inside baby Bloom.
Bloom's parents, Queen Marion and King Oritel of Domino formed the Company of Light to fight against the Ancestral Witches, and they disappeared at the end of the war against the Ancestral Witches.
