Sam Harvey was one of the main characters of Fate: The Winx Saga. He is portrayed by Jacob Dudman.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Since his father was a professor at Alfea, he and his sister Terra grew up around the school. For unknown reasons, his mother, Rose, left Alfea. Ben Harvey raised his children alone. During this time, Sam was there for Terra and spent a lot of time with her. But when he attended Alfea College, he enjoyed the freedom of having friends of the same age.
Throughout the Series[]
Season 1[]
Sam meets Musa, a mind fairy who can perceive emotions. On a walk, she says that Sam sounds like the absence of chaos. They fall in love with each other. They keep their deep and passionate relationship a secret because Musa is afraid to open up herself emotionally in front of Terra, who is her best friend, and ultimately the whole school. Sam's presence makes Musa feel peace and calm rather than the negative feelings of others. When Sam is critically injured by a Burned One, Musa overcomes her trauma of her mum's death and her difficulty in accepting her magic. She manipulates Sam's pain and eases his agony. When Bloom kills Sam's Burned One, he survives.
Season 2[]
Sam has grown disgruntled by the massive authoritarian change at Alfea College caused by Rosalind. He develops a strong anger towards Rosalind and towards his dad, who does nothing about Rosalind. Furthermore, being wounded by the Burned One has caused a psychological wound in him. Musa feels this and manipulates this anger over many weeks in the hope that it will make him feel better. But the opposite is the case. Sam becomes angrier and angrier and loses more and more control over his emotions. He decides to kill Rosalind to put an end to her dictatorship. To stop Sam, Musa finally tells Sam that she has manipulated his feelings. He is deeply disappointed in her. Sam is stopped from killing Rosalind by Marco. Before he leaves the school with his dad, he breaks up with Musa, whom he holds no grudges against because he understands why she did it. Sam and his dad go to the Malacoy Academy.
After Sam and her dad leave, Terra misses them a lot and blames Musa for it. In order to deal with what Musa did to Sam and get over the breakup, she gives up her magic and joins Riven and the specialist training.
Personality[]
According to Jacob Dudman, who plays Sam, is his character a naughty boy who is very free and open. Sam doesn't let his mental problems hold him back and is content to follow the course of life. He loves being a fairy. He spends his free time gardening in the greenhouse and spending time with his dad.[2] He is also a very empathetic person. In season two, Sam becomes the opposite thanks to Rosalind's actions in Alfea.
Appearance[]
Sam has short brown hair and brown eyes. He is 1.8 meters (5'9") tall. Sam dresses in a very casual style, usually a t-shirt, jeans and jacket of some sort. His favourite garment is a green jacket. That's why Aisha gives Sam the nickname "Mr. Green Jacket".
Changes from Winx Club[]
Sam is a loose adaptation of Flora's little sister Miele 
from the Winx Club . Unlike the cartoon, Sam's a boy and a love interest to one of the main characters (Musa). Many of the changes from the cartoon to the series are:
- Sam is Flora's cousin instead of sibling.
- Sam never transformed into his fairy form.
- Sam is older and a student in Alfea.
Furthermore, he seems to be a mix of guys who have a crush on Musa in Winx Club. This is especially true of Orlando and Jared . Whereby Sam is more like Orlando.
Powers and Abilities[]
Basic Fairy Abilities[]
- Channeling: Like every fairy, Sam possesses the ability to channel his own emotions as a source of power to fuel his magic. He also has the ability to channel the Stone Circle.
- Eye-Color Shifting: Once Sam's powers are in use his eyes shift to a fluorescent green color.
Earth Fairy Abilities[]
- Boring: Sam possess the ability to bore through natural matter, such as stone walls, wooden doors etc..
Other Fairy Abilities[]
- Alchemy: Like his father, sister, and cousin, Sam has knowledge and talent on creating potions.
Relationships[]
Terra[]
His sister and also a fellow earth fairy. Terra has a love for plants and fairy history which Sam tends to find quite boring. However, its evident he loves and cares for her deeply when he and his father both stand to protect Terra when Dane comes to apologize to her.
Flora[]
Flora is Sam's second cousin. They seem to have a good relationship, like brother and sister, as Flora says she loves Sam.
Musa[]
Musa was Sam's main love interest and ex-girlfriend. Musa and Sam originally kept their relationship a secret from his sister Terra until Musa eventually told her. Musa and Sam have a very close relationship and care for each other. They have many things and interests in common, like music. In season 2, Musa started using her powers on Sam to control his emotions messing up their relationship. Before Sam left Alfea with his dad, Musa and Sam broke up.
Grey Owens[]
Grey was Sam's roommate in season 2 and they are best friends. Sam and Musa set Aisha and Grey up, as they both know how they feel about each other.
Rosalind[]
Sam hates Rosalind. He grew up in Alfea and loves the school, especially the greenhouse. Rosalind turns the school into a "police state" (Sam Harvey, 2x01) that restricts his freedom of movement and the greenhouse into a small hospital. Sam develops a deep anger towards the headmistress, which gets so bad that he wants to kill her, which goes against his personality.
Ben Harvey[]
Ben Harvey is Sam's Dad. In season 1, Sam has a good relationship with his dad. Ben Harvey does everything to make sure that Sam survives the injury by a Burned One and is so concerned about him that he shows Musa how to transfer pain and thus emotions from others to her. In season 2, Ben Harvey wants to protect his children from Rosalind, so he does everything for Rosalind. He gives her important information about friends like Silva. Sam can't accept this attitude, and when he understands why his dad is doing it, it's part of the reason for him to kill Rosalind. Ben Harvey leaves Alfea with Sam to make sure he gets the help he needs. But it seems like he needs a fresh start for himself, too.

- According to Musa, Sam’s mind sounds like the absence of chaos.
- The relationship between Musa and Sam is the only one of all the romantic relationships in the series between two fairies.
- Sam is familiar with the singer, Enya, and possibly, a big fan of her.
- Sam is afraid of ghosts.
- The plan was for Sam to die in episode 1x05. But that was later changed.[3]
- Sam's real name is Samuel.
- As the phrase "Boring through" has been used to describe his power, it is implied that his power does not allow him actual intangibility, rather the power to make a tunnel-like opening within a wall, which allows him to walk through it. This is supported by the literal meaning of the infinitive "to bore through", which means to create a hole, opening or tunnel, in an object or material.
- It is unknown how Sam, a fairy, and Grey, a Specialist, were roommates, as it's been stated that Fairies and Specialists have separate dormitories.
